Simplex Load Banks - Mars-HV Stationary Load Bank

The Mars-HV is a self-contained Load Bank to 15KV utilizing the Simplex Mars Load Module with on-board dry-type power transformer. It is a freestanding, skidded unit consisting of three principle sections:

1. High voltage section consisting of main input power terminals, high voltage: 480V 3-phase power transformer, low voltage output terminals, and outputs to load cell.
2. 480V, low voltage resistive load section consisting of one 700KW-1250KW forced air-cooled load cell.
3. Control Section.

Simplex Mars-HV load banks can be used to satisfy the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for emergency stand-by power systems.
Load Elements
Elements mounted in easily accessible, slide out trays.
Simplex Powr-Web chromium alloy, open wire, continuously supported, power resistor.
UL Recognized.
System Controls
Standard: Simplex D-Series Digital Controller with local or remote touchscreen.
Integral forced air cooling system.
3-phase, direct-drive motor.
Water shedding exhaust hood.
Forced air, vertical airflow -- cold air intake at bottom, hot air exhaust at top.
System Protections
Sensors, alarms (alarm message on remote operator interface terminal), lock-outs as appropriate, for the following: fan failure, high exhaust temperature, high intake temperature.
Load Circuit Protection: branch circuit fuses. One set of fuses each 50KW branch. Fuses are current limiting type, 200,000 AIC, 600V, enabling safe use on large generating or UPS system.
Load Control
Branch circuit contactors, each 50KW step.
Contactors with enclosed silver surfaced contacts, 120V coils; electrically operated and electrically held.
Control Wiring: 105°C, color coded.
Power Wiring: 150°C.
Cables connect to full rated copper bus bar with an oversize terminal junction box.
Type 3R weatherproof power section, including load elements and cooling fan.
Type 3R weatherproof control section, thermally and electrically isolated from resistive load power section.
Double wall construction for cool exterior.
Exhaust hood mounts atop power section. Hood may be deleted and a duct flangee provided for indoor application where air is exhausted through a duct to the outdoors.
Service access from three sides via hinged doors with lockable latches.
Enclosure abrasively blasted or chemically etched, primed and finished.
Anti-condensation heaters at 120V, 1ø, 240V 1ø, or any common 3ø voltage.
